sold as new fan from amazon.com, but when opened, i could clearly see it was opened item (could see marks people try to screw through the hole and some slight damage around the hole. scratch mark on the blade). Since I needed the fan for the summer, i didnt want to go through returning and getting a new one. It seems to be running so far very well. it pushes lot of air and the air makes some noise at high speed because of vaulted ceiling (not the fan's fault, i think). The light is really bright and can be dimmed. Overall impressed wih fan, not so impressed with amazon pushing a open/used item as new fan.Nice fan, very quiet. Had to get a 18" x 1/2" sch 40 pipe from Home Depot, cut the ends off and drilled a 1/4" through hole at both ends and paint it. Installation instructions are very poor. I recommend to assemble the fan with the blades on the ground and hang it than as a unit. Putting the blades on under the ceiling is very impractical. Light dimming has no indicator and very little range. On the ceiling mount I had to make some shims to bring the support bracket further down in order to reduce the gap. There is no provision to cover up that gap. I'll be installing the same fan in my Bedroom. Good Luck on your installation.Been using these 1 1/2 years now. Purchased 3 of them. No problems with any of them. Only slight slight negative is that they turn off with the power button, but not ON with the power button - you have to push the arrow keys. Not really a problem, just a weird thing I encountered.Interesting side note - for some reason when I ordered them they weren't being shipped. I called Amazon after a week and they were very helpful, fixed the problem and paid for all 3 to be shipped overnight (at a shipping cost of $220!!!!!). Amazing service.EDIT: 1 of the 3 fans broke. I did all the troubleshooting in the manual. I even purchased a new control.a great fan! Looks good, works great, love the energy efficiency. My only con is the control panel, its too easy to hit the reverse button by mistake. i bought another one and it has much better controls. So quiet, so efficient, beautiful styling, worth every penny. Love the complete remote control, very easy to set up with great directions and video. So easy to dim the light, change the direction, fan speed. Will be replacing all the fans in the home with these eventually as budget permits. Doesn't have to spin fast to move air, but can it ever if you need it.Fan is so very quiet, and that's because it has a dc motor. Didn't need to balance, as it was perfect out of box. Wall unit doesn't allow you to dim lights. And I'm not sure if I buy handheld remote will it allow me to dim lights. Manual states this is a dimmable light.Making noise? and return window ended days ago. This is my first ceiling fan purchase in about 30 years. Had a Casablanca in my old house, and was very pleased with it. I was told by more than one source that Casablanca is not what it used to be, so I looked elsewhere.Decided on this Emerson and somewhat disappointed:1. For what it is, it's overpriced. Plastic blades - come on...2. Yes, it moves a lot of air, but it wobbles a bit. Would expect better balancing for a fan of this price.3. Biggest disappointment is the light. It gets extremely bright, but has limited dimming. I'd like it to dim way more than it does, but it's not possible. I called Emerson customer service and asked about a different (internal) light controller or different LED board, but not possible.Emerson fans are the best ! Can’t hear the motor even at high speeds. Have had Emerson fans in my home (7) going on five years now and not one regret ! Fans work 24/7 at our place and the only maintenance so far is cleaning the blades of surface dust twice a year which is great with me ! One more thing - one of my fan light cover had been slightly cracked in transit and I received a replacement cover right away at no charge - excellent service!
