Excellent product at a very reasonable price. I was concerned it would not be well built. I was wrong. This is a MUST in any bathroom or high humidity room. There will be NO rust on our bathroom vent. Fit was exact to the 1/8". Easy to operate, open 1/2 or full with ease. Closure is 95-100%, keeping the hot or cold out of the room.We had a ceiling deflector made of aluminum that had seen its last and needed replacing. This deflector had only two settings: open and closed. It also only sent air in one direction while open. This was in the kitchen, so rising air sometimes got past the deflector and into the vent, sending the fragrance of whatever was cooking to other rooms in the house. This is not necessarily a good thing. We decided to try the Deflecto as a replacement, mostly for the fact that it deflects air in three directions. We thought this would do a better job of cooling or heating the kitchen, which is one of the larger rooms in the house, as well as providing fewer openings for rising air to slip past the flow coming out of the vent. The Deflecto is made of plastic, so I'm a little concerned for it's life cycle, especially after we turn on the heat for the winter. The aluminum one breathed its last after apparently being up there for ten years, but it did wear out. Still, I am very pleased with the Deflecto so far. First of all, it fit the register perfectly, and by perfectly, I mean that I didn't even have to drill any holes. Bing, bang, boom, it was up. Also, it does an even better job at resisting rising air currents than I originally thought it would. This is because the deflector itself is maybe 1/2 an inch lower than its housing, so the rising air tends to get trapped above the cold air coming out, and doesn't get in the vent and bother people trying to read with the smell of sauteed garlic. I'm not sure how well this is going to work when we switch to heat, but for now it's aces.Bottom line, this product is plenty inexpensive enough that, combined with its good performance, it's turned out to be well worth the risk of the purchase.these tend to angle the air flow a bit higher than i'd hoped, but it covers a hole and works fine so far.Used as a exact replacement for an older one that was rusting around the edges from the humidity, this should solve that problemIf this vent is installed on an outlet that is on the side of a tube, the air will not be directed properly.Standard vents have fins inside that can capture a larger volume air and direct them to the vent properly, then the outer fins can further direct that channeled flow. This unit since it does not have the inner flow, and it is on an outlet on the side of a tube, the air only gets directed to the left and forward and not the other side, and not evenly or well at that.So this will not evenly redirect airflow as you would expect unless it is at the very end of the flow so the air hits the vent straight on.Also, because amazon packaged it in a plastic bag (not even bubble wrapped) and not a box, the fragile plastic clips that keep the vent from pulling all the way out were damaged two times. This is not necessarily a reflection of the product, but still something to consider if Amazon keeps sending them in bags.Easy installation. Airflow is excellent and well distributed and just as important, quieter than the high pitched flow through the old metal registers.Had a few dark spots on it. But it is going in the bathroom so it will be OK.Very quick delivery... exactly what I needed!
